Capsa Hotel

Capsa Restaurant

Capsa

Founded in 1886, Hotel Capsa is one of the most elegant hotels in Romania. The Hotel is a 3 level building, located in the historical center of the city, on Edgar Quinet Street, very close to the most important touristic attractions.
The hospitable staff and the great cuisine reflect the best local traditions.
Elegant and distinguished, the hotel has class, style and discretion.

Established in 1852, " CASA CAPSA" (Restaurant, Hotel, Café and Confectionary) is the symbol of the Romanian high-life society. The founder, Grigore Capsa (1841-1902), introduced from the very beginning the occidental standards of quality and refinement. He made CAPSA ' s name a well - known commercial brand all over the continent.

The " CAPSA Hotel", opened in 1886, under the French manager Bourdell , ex - director at " Hôtel Café Anglais", in Paris, became shortly the most elegant Romanian hotel. In 1908, the British Magazine "John Bull" named Hotel Capsa "among the best Hotels in the world, comparatively with " Douglas Hotel" in Madrid, "Capello Nero" in Venice, "Giappone" in Livorno and " Hungaria" in Budapest. It was considered for a long time the only suitable residence of the artists, rich and aristocratic families or high rank politicians and diplomats visiting Romania. They preferred to live Capsa Hotel, because they found here the same western elevated and aristocratic ambiance.

On 17 June 2003, Capsa Hotel opened again, owned now by dipl. Eng. Marian Bucur, being - with its only 61 rooms - a First Class " Star of five Stars" among the few super elegant hotels of this kind in Romania.
