Mogosoaia Palace

Mogosoaia Palace

The palace built by Constantin Brancoveanu is situated on the bank of the Mogosoaia Lake and it was finished in 1702. The whole palace it is like an exhibition, because inside you can see on the walls all the valuable Brancoveanu`s and Bibescu`s family paintings. Between 1842-1848, the palace was reconstructed from the ruler Gheorge Bibescu. They used some materials from the others Brancoveanu`s houses: from Potlogi and from the palace from Mitropoliei`s Hill. In 1920, Martha Bibescu arrived at Mogosoaia Palace and she will renovate the palace again. You can notice here the garden that is in Italian style with all that beautiful flowers and the whole park.

We will introduce you to the aristocratic life of the good old times, when young princesses and princes were walking and chatting in the parks, or when the major sports events pompous balls took place here. Both the balcony and the first floor rooms had been initially adorned with oriental stucco and mural paintings representing either members of the princely family historical themes. On the facade overlooking the lake there is a wonderfull "loggia" of Venetian inspiration, with three cusped archades. Its rich adornment joins together stylistic elements characteristic both of the Renaissance and the Baroque.
