Negru Voda Monastery - Campulung Muscel

"Negru Voda " Monastery in Campulung Muscel was erected in 1215 by ruler Negru Voda. Here lies the oldest tombstone of a ruler still kept in Romania.

Campulung Muscel is a town in the Arges county. Campulung Muscel was founded as a town in the early 14th century. It was the first capital of Walachia. The Prince Basarab I and his son are burried at Negru Voda Monastery. There have been discovered several ruins of the of the princes residence.
