The Old Royal Court

The Old Royal Court of Targoviste is an archiectural complex formed of several buildings: the Royal House, now in ruins, was formed of two structures built in different times. Petru Cercel was the one that built beautiful fountains and gardens in the European fashion. Matei Basarab united the two structures and Constantin Brancoveanu remade the whole court, adding a gazebo.

The Big Royal Church: was built by Petru Cercel and was painted at the orders of Constantin Brancoveanu. On the western wall there is represented a whole procession of the princes from Wallachia.

The Little Royal Church: probably built in the 16th century kept its initial aspect. It has ornaments of ceramic disks and the old porch built in the same with the church.

"Turnul Chindiei" ("The Sunset Tower") was built in the second reign of  of Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler) and it soon became the emblem of the town. The town had several functions: fortifications, observation point, storing place for the thesaurus, fire tower, access gate. The Chindia Tower hosts the exhibit that displays Vlad Tepes reigns.
