General information


Historical information
The notes of a therapist (concerning the construction of a watering place) constitute the first attestation of the spa (1763). In 1771, the pool had been made of wood and then it was made of stone (together with other cabins for baths). The first establishment was built between 1766-1772. The main spring was improved in 1885 and this fact helped the resort to develop.

Geographic position
The spa is located at 140m altitudes, on the northwestern side of Romania, in Crisurilor field, on the western side of the hills from the foot of Padurea Craiului Mountains.

Climate

The characteristic of the climate in this zone is represented by its mildness. The average annual temperature registered is 10.5 Celsius degrees, while during summertime it is of 21.3 Celsius degrees. The average atmospheric pressure is of 770 mm. There are a few rainfalls (650mm a year) The winds are moderate and blow from north and southeast.

Total capacity: 5800 accommodation places in hotels of 1-3 stars, with restaurants and treatment bases in the thermal - hotel regime.

Entertainment possibilities

Open-air swimming pools, including Olympic pools, with thermal water, which are usable also in wintertime; tennis grounds, fishing, balneary parks, cycling, speleology, casino. In Oradea there are : museums, medieval fortresses and buildings. In weekends, trips are organised in the mountain areas from the vicinity, as well as to the Bears' Cave; folklore parties, meetings for the wine connoisseurs, game hunting..

Oradea: the museum of Tara Crisurilor, Romano-Catholic Cathedral (the biggest baroque church all over the country), Oradea citadel's ruins (built between 1114 and 1131), the Episcopal Orthodox Cathedral -"the moon church" (an unique mechanism which indicates the moon phases), "The Black Eagle" Palace and Passage (architectural monument, in secession style)
Biharia: the vestiges of Biharia citadel, political center of Prince Menumorut (the10th century)
Batar: dendrology park (valuable exotic trees)
Chiscau: the Bears` Cave dwells an extraordinary range of stalagmite and stalactite formations varying in size and forms as well as a lot of like marks and fossils of cave bear - Ursus Spelaeus - which disappeared more than 15,000 years ago.
