The Prahova Valley is an unforgettable display of the splendors nature most generously holds out. The Prahova Valley is a wide, deep cleft carved by the Prahova River into the granite of the southern Carpathians. It is a corridor between Transylvania and Walachia, an ancient route that is traversed today by the railway and a major road.
After running through Comarnic and Posada (125 km) the road enters the most important Prahova Valley spa, Sinaia. The Pearl of the Carpathians it was once the traditional meeting place of high society and many old but fashionable buildings stand as testimony. Advertising publications of beginning 1900 issued by the Palace Hotel and the Casino always mentioned: Sinaia is on the route of the ORIENT EXPRESS train. This was not a fruitless invitation, as travelers on that train always got off to check in the Palace Hotel and visit the Casino Sinaia.
Modern Sinaia is a tourist resort, 365 days a year, with marvelous surroundings, hotels and extensive winter sports.The spa is served by a collection of Alpine huts strung across the peaks and a network of ski runs. The main tourist attraction is Peles Castle, smaller replicas Pelisor and Sinaia Monastery. Peles Castle was a majesty summer residence of the Romanian Royal Family. You will visit Peles Castle, Pelisor, Sinaia Monastery and its museum. Lunch at Sinaia Palace restaurant.
