Hightlights: Supreme sacrifice for creation  & Dracula Castle

Route: Bucharest - Curtea de Arges - Poenari - Ramnicu Valcea (Olanesti) – 276 km

Departure to Curtea de Arges. This picturesque city hosts a marvelous architectonic masterpiece - the Monastery of Curtea de Arges - built by the first Wallachian prince Neagoe Basarab (1512 - 1521).
The legend tells that the church was built by a team of ten workers supervised by the Master Manole, who sacrificed his wife by building her in the church's walls – in order to be able to finish the building. the supreme sacrifice for creation.
Aside from the graves of the creator and of the ruler Radu de la Afumati, there are four gravestones under which King Carol I (1866 - 1914) and Queen Elisabeta, King Ferdinand (1914 - 1927) and Queen Maria rest their souls. Lunch in Curtea de Arges. Departure to Poienari and visit the remaining of Poienari fortress, built by Vlad Tepes. Departure to Rm.Valcea.  Visit Cozia Monastery and Govora Monastery.

Departure to Targu Jiu. On the way, stop to visit the exquisite monasteries of Hurezu (also well-known for its pottery). Bistrita, Polovragi and Maldaresti, as well as the Trovants Museum near Costesti.
Founded in 1690 by Prince Constantine Brancoveanu, the monastery of Horezu, in Walachia, is a masterpiece of the 'Brancovan' style. It is known for its architectural purity and balance, the richness of its sculptural detail, the treatment of its religious compositions, its votive portraits and its painted decorative works. The school of mural and icon painting established at the monastery in the 18th century was famous throughout the Balkan region.
Lunch in Horezu. Departure to Polovragi Monastery. Polovragi Monastery was rebuilt by Constantin Brancoveanu in 1647. The Bolnita Church was built in 1736 on the same site, famous for its fine frescoes. Every year on Sunday between June 14 and 20, the monastery hosts a folk craft fair, Nedeia.
The Polovragi monastery was involved in the 1821 revolution, witnessed by an inscription on the church porch, attributed to Tudor Vladimirescu leader.

Departure to Lainici monastery. Situated at 32 km to the north of the Tismana village, is the oldest monastery in Romania, founded in 1375.
Tismana Monastery was surrounded by a high wall during the reign of Matei Basarab. The monastery served as a meeting place for rebels during the 1821 rising led by Tudor Vladimirescu.
